Of Dreamers and Dreams

I have a dream. And I always believe it is worth chasing it. For a sensitive writer like me, I know I have a lot to share about my creative visions. As a born artist, my greatest art is the capacity of my heart to love selflessly for the sake of expression.
8finity magazine is the offspring of my desire to express and share my dreams as an artist. More than art itself, we envisioned this publication as a fusion of different facets of life, a lighter side that brings out the best of Ilonggo culture and what it means to be an Ilonggo. “8finity” is a stylized word originally intended as “infinity” which means unlimited and boundless. The magazine incorporates everything about pop culture, leisure, entertainment, travel, and current trend that connect Ilonggos into the global vista. Though it is conceptualized from the start as an event magazine that promotes 8finity Events projects like musical concerts, the magazine co-founded by creative writers has a broader perspective that instill a “cultural substance” more than “eye-candy” contents. We truly believe that as writers with a cause, we must have a “heart” with everything that we write. Our pen represents our creative lifeblood that will re-fuel the passion of our readers through this extraordinary magazine—light contents but immersive and inspiring.
8finity magazine is extraordinary simply because it is unpredictable in style and creatively conceptualized to express more what readers are expecting for. It is a publication with chameleon characteristics, a shape-shifter that mutates its image but maintains substance-wise contents. This publication will traverse interesting places, rediscover culinary flavors, highlight local talents, get-to-know personas who left significant legacies, appreciate local festivals and simply be entertained through the pleasure of reading.
On the other side, 8finity Events and Production, a team of true-bloodied Ilonggo event organizers are extraordinarily dreaming to create events and musical concerts that tickle everybody’s heart through quality entertainment—unforgettable, out-of-the-box and has deeper significance. They always believe in organizing events with a “heart,” a special cause that leaves social impact. For its first concert last September 22 at Plazuela de Iloilo, this rising events team highlighted the brilliance of Ilonggo talents and artists in one special show titled “Sarap Magbago Ilonggo.” And the next big step is bringing music sensations Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, and soul siren Nina with Ryan Bang for “The Champions Back 2 Back” on December 7 at CPU Gym. But amid the glitter and music, this upcoming concert will benefit Balay Dalayunan, a special home for boys.
8finity Events and this new publication are intertwined by the same passion, a dream, and a purpose of elevating “entertainment” that will somehow re-shape the Ilonggo’s perspective on pop culture. But beyond anything else, they make sure that what we call “pop culture” must have a “significant substance” that makes it a heartfelt passion.
We all have dreams. And having a simple dream with a beautiful purpose is worth chasing it. The more we believe in dreaming and put our heart in it, the more we become a relevant person. Our dream has made us who we are today. So hold on, keep reading, and enjoy the journey...
